The Preliminary Investigations Judge (GIP) of the Court of Benevento, Dr. Vincenzo Landolfi, has dismissed the criminal proceedings for embezzlement against the Mayor of San Nicola Manfredi, Arturo Leone Vernillo. The decision was made in accordance with the arguments presented by Attorney Vittorio Fucci, who demonstrated the lack of substance of the alleged crime.
The proceedings were initiated following complaints filed by city councilor and opposition group leader Angelo Capobianco, who was a candidate for mayor in the last elections. Capobianco had accused Mayor Vernillo of using the city website for personal purposes.
The decision by investigating judge Landolfi represents yet another favorable ruling for Vernillo, who has recently seen a series of acquittals, dismissals, and indictments of his legal counterparts. In this case, too, the Mayor was represented by his trusted attorney, Vittorio Luigi Fucci.
