Avellino. Four young people between the ages of 19 and 21 lost their lives in a tragic road accident that occurred overnight on the Strada Nazionale delle Puglie, near Mirabella Eclano, in the province of Avellino.
The accident occurred around 23:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 13. The car in which the young people were traveling, a Mercedes, first collided with two cars, and then crashed into the concrete wall of a company.
The impact was extremely violent and left no escape for the boys, who died instantly.
The firefighters, 118 ambulances, the Carabinieri of the Mirabella Eclano company and the Anas technicians intervened on site. Investigations to ascertain the dynamics of the event are underway.
The victims
The 21-year-old driver, a resident of Frigento, together with a friend from Frigento. The other two young people, aged 20 and 19, were from Grottaminarda and Calore from Mirabella Eclano.
According to an initial reconstruction, the boys, together with other friends who were following them on board a Fiat Panda (not involved in the accident), were headed to Calore di Mirabella to get an ice cream.
The investigation
The Public Prosecutor's Office of Benevento has opened an investigation. The bodies of the four boys have been transferred to the morgue of the San Pio hospital in Benevento, where autopsies will be performed. The three cars involved in the accident and the boys' smartphones have been seized.
The mayor's condolences
Numerous messages of condolence for the tragic victims. The mayor of Mirabella Eclano, Pasquale Maglio, expressed his grief and that of the entire community for the loss of the young people.
