Camorra the clash between the Iadonisi and the Troncone behind the shooting in via Leopardi

There is an ongoing clash between the Iadonisi group from the Lauro district and the Troncone from Fuorigrotta behind the Wild West-like shooting that took place late yesterday afternoon in via Leopardi.

The police and the Carabinieri have been working since yesterday to reconstruct what happened and have examined the numerous images from the many public and private cameras located both at the site of the shooting and along the escape route.

It all started on Via Consalvo, where a black Honda SH carrying two men crossed paths with another motorcycle, of still unknown make and color, with two other people on board. The four men, members of two rival gangs, had an argument that quickly escalated into a shootout.

It is still unclear which of the two vehicles then fled at full speed towards Via Leopardi, where a second shooting took place at number 80, also without injuries.

In the meantime, a police car was in the area and, hearing the sound of the gunshots, started giving chase, but the traffic allowed the gun-toting motorcyclists to escape.

Three 7,65 caliber shell casings were found at the scene.

The police and Carabinieri have launched an investigation to reconstruct what happened and identify those responsible.

The incident occurred in the Fuorigrotta neighborhood, an area that has long been the scene of clashes between the Troncone and Esposito-Iadonisi clans.

It is assumed that the shooting is the latest chapter in this bloody feud, fueled by the fight for control of the extortion racket against illegal parking attendants and stalls around the Maradona stadium, which, with the new enthusiasm following Conte's arrival as Napoli coach, will certainly bring in more revenue than last year.

Control of the Fuorigrotta territory around the stadium that was the reason for the clash

But more generally, for the control of drug dealing areas in the territory, money laundering in food and beverage and entertainment activities.

It was just a coincidence that yesterday no innocent victims escaped like when last April 4th, in Piazza Italia, a woman, Luisa Mangiapia, was accidentally injured during another inter-clan shootout.

Once again, investigators are faced with the nightmare of organized crime spreading terror among the civilian population. The hunt for those responsible is ongoing, but the road to defeating the Camorra and restoring safety to Naples still appears long and difficult.
