The man, already known to the police for his drug addiction problems, had been tormenting the woman for some time with physical attacks and death threats to obtain money to use to buy drugs.
The episode that led to the arrest occurred yesterday morning, when yet another attack prompted the 26-year-old to call the Carabinieri.
Upon their arrival, the soldiers found the woman with visible scratches on her arms and listened to her as she reported the violence she had suffered.
The woman said she was attacked by her partner who, not getting the money requested, threatened to kill her. The violence, according to her story, also occurred in the presence of their two minor children.
The Carabinieri then tracked down the man, who was hiding on the perimeter wall of the house, and arrested him. The man was taken to the Santa Maria Capua Vetere prison.
The 26-year-old, who had never reported her partner in the past for fear of retaliation, found the courage to ask for help thanks to the support of her family.
