Two contracts for the post-earthquake and post-flood reconstruction of Casamicciola in the sights of the Anti-Mafia Investigative Directorate.
By order of the Prefect of Naples, an Inter-Force Group specialized in Major Public Works has started an investigation into two island shipyards due to the presence of a company suspected of having links to organised crime.
The attention of investigators, particularly the Economic and Financial Police Unit of the Guardia di Finanza, is focused on two reconstruction interventions:
The first, worth 93.696 euros, the second, much more substantial, worth 1 million 520 thousand euros.
Both projects are located on Via D'Aloisio, in the upper part of Casamicciola, and concern properties damaged by the 2017 earthquake.
At the center of the investigation is Caccavale Appalti & Costruzioni srl, the successful bidder for both contracts. The provincial Carabinieri headquarters in Naples and Latina have requested the acquisition of documents and information on the company, identifying evidence suggesting possible connections to criminal activity.
Next Thursday, the Prefect of Naples, Michele di Bari, will travel to the island for a meeting with Ischia's mayors and Reconstruction Commissioner Legnini. The goal is to review the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding for safety and legality signed with all the agencies and institutions involved in post-disaster reconstruction.
