Casavatore. After 15 gunshots were fired on Monday evening, on Corso Europa in Casavatore where men, presumably on motorcycles, set the city on fire by shooting wildly with a gun.
The local police intervened on the spot and found the shell casings and sent a specific report to the Prosecutor's Office. While the investigations are still ongoing.
“There is a dangerous atmosphere in the north of Naples and this is demonstrated by some incidents that have occurred in recent hours, in the Macello di Casalnuovo park, a historic drug dealing area, where gunshots were fired at some people, but also in Casavatore where there was a drive-by on Corso Europa and in Afragola, in the Salicelle, where, in recent days, a man with a criminal record was injured”.
The Anti-Camorra Committee for Legality denounced this, underlining that “the risk of an escalation of the conflict between the various existing clans, often composed of very young people, is very high because there is a lack of real control of the territory by the police forces who continue to deal with shortages of personnel and resources”.
“The few new staff members that are announced from time to time are not sufficient to cover existing gaps and those created by retirements, without forgetting that, too often, they are only used for facade operations such as those underway in the Green Park from Caivano for almost a year” the representatives of the Committee added.
And then they reiterated that “the recipe to follow is always the same: an almost military control of the territory to give an immediate response but also many interventions that can impact on the causes of the fascination exercised by camorristi and criminals”.
After a period of apparent calm, the clans are once again making their presence felt with parades and carousels on motorbikes or aboard high-powered cars, as happened in Arzano, which is “twinned” – on the criminal front – with the Ferone clan of Casavatore and which, in 2017, also led to the dissolution of the municipality due to mafia-related reasons.
