July 15th will mark four years since the death of Mario Paciolla, the Neapolitan United Nations aid worker found dead in his home in San Vicente del Caguán, Colombia, where he had been stationed for approximately two years as an observer verifying the proper implementation of the peace agreements between the government and the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC). On June 14th, Rome prosecutors requested, for the second time, that the case be dismissed as a suicide.
The CGIL is promoting a public initiative entitled "Mario is not archived" scheduled for Thursday 4 July at 16:00 pm, in the "Gianfranco Federico" room of the CGIL Naples and Campania headquarters (via Toledo, 353) in Naples: a moment of debate not only on the judicial affair but also on Mario's political and social commitment, at the end of which the banner "Truth and justice for Mario" will be displayed along the facade of the headquarters in via Toledo. Paciolla".
The secretary of the confederation of CGIL Naples and Campania, Raffaele Paudice, Tina Marinari, coordinator of the campaigns for Amnesty International Italy, Désirée Klain, spokesperson for Articolo 21 Campania, the deputy secretary general of FNSI, Claudio Silvestri, the cartoonist Mauro Biani, the secretary general of CGIL Naples and Campania, Nicola Ricci and the secretary of the confederation of CGIL, Lara Ghiglione, will discuss the matter with Mario's parents, Pino and Anna.
