“We have a lot to do, there is great enthusiasm among the fans, but that must remain the only thing: we must be focused because there will be a lot of work to do to do better than last year”. These are the words of Napoli coach Antonio Conte, in an interview with Rai from the Dimaro retreat. Conte expressed his awareness of the work needed to improve the team. “Even when you win, you have to make evaluations to understand what can be improved.
Sometimes victory covers up many flaws, but you have to be objective and understand where to improve to continue to be competitive and successful. Likewise, in defeat you have to be good at keeping the good things and eliminating what doesn't work."
Asked about the possible advantage of not playing in European competitions this year, Conte replied: “There is an advantage and a disadvantage.
You can work all week, but you won't have a competitive roster like the one for the Champions.We definitely need a good squad, that's out of the question." The coach concluded by outlining the next steps for the team: “The next step is to make assessments on the pitch, to understand who will stay in Naples and who should go and play for other teams”.
