Eboli - A terrible story of violence and oppression unfolded in the shadow of Vesuvius, where a 31-year-old Venezuelan woman was kidnapped, mistreated, and assaulted by her partner, a local criminal.
Their relationship, which began in August last year, was already riddled with disturbing signs. After just three months, the man showed his true colors: aggressive and possessive, he began beating the woman, insulting her, and keeping her locked up in the house, forbidding her from contact with anyone.
For over six months, the woman lived a nightmare, trapped within her home, with doors and windows barred by padlocks and chains. Alone and without a job, she had no one to turn to for help. Her only hope was to find the courage to escape.
The opportunity came a few days ago, when her tormentor was in the shower. With a final act of strength and desperation, the woman managed to escape and call for help from passersby.
But her ordeal wasn't over yet. The man, noticing her escape, stormed out of the house and attempted to force her back into the apartment, threatening and assaulting her.
Fortunately, passers-by who witnessed the scene immediately alerted the police. The Carabinieri of the Operational and Radiomobile Unit of the Company Eboli They intervened promptly, arresting the man and saving the woman from further violence.
An investigation has been opened into the incident. The man faces charges of enslavement, kidnapping, mistreatment, and assault. The woman, however, after a red code was issued, was taken into a foster home, where she can finally begin rebuilding her life.
