Naples. Like every summer, beach thieves are always on the move, ready to strike at the first sign of distraction. It happened again yesterday at "Mappatella Beach" at the Diaz roundabout, on Naples's beautiful seafront.
The victim is a Peruvian tourist who was at the seaside to spend a few hours on the rocks of Mergellina.
His purse, containing identity documents, cell phone and some personal items, is placed on the rocks while the owner is a few meters away, enjoying the classic Neapolitan postcard.
Meanwhile, Mohamed Aouadi is not enjoying the view but wandering among the tourists and bathers. He spots the Peruvian's purse, grabs it and runs away.

The victim does not notice anything, but the Carabinieri of the Centro Company, who are dressed in civilian clothes precisely to prevent crimes of this type, do.
The officers chased the 31-year-old Moroccan man on foot for over a kilometer. The man was stopped, but first resisted, striking the Carabinieri.
Aouadi will end up in handcuffs for aggravated theft and resisting a public official. He will also have to answer for violating the ban on residing in the municipality of Naples. He is now in the holding cell, awaiting trial. The purse was returned to its rightful owner.
