Marta Maria Ohryzko, a Ukrainian woman, was found dead Sunday morning in Barano d'Ischia after being the victim of terrible abuse. The investigations conducted by the Carabinieri and coordinated by the Naples Prosecutor's Office have reconstructed a chilling picture of violence inflicted by her partner, the 41-year-old Russian IB, now arrested on charges of abuse.
According to investigators, Marta Maria was repeatedly attacked, threatened with death with a knife, punched and slapped. In one particularly brutal episode, the man purposely made her fall into a burning fire, causing second-degree burns to her buttocks, arms and abdomen. In addition to the physical violence, the woman was isolated from her family, whom her partner hated because of their Ukrainian origins. The victim's sister reported that the man had insulted them by calling them "shit Ukrainians who must die".
The investigations revealed that Marta Maria had sought help several times, going to the emergency room of the hospital in Lacco Ameno. However, the violence did not stop and, according to the investigators' reconstruction, the man ignored the woman's desperate pleas for help for hours, after she fell into a ravine not far from their home. Marta Maria died of starvation, after a long agony that lasted all night.
