Naples. “When we make an investment, we have to analyze what the best outcome is for citizens. On the one hand, improve the quality of service management, which is fundamental, and on the other, pass on the benefit of the reduction in tariffs to citizens”.
This was stated by the mayor of Napoli, Cajetan Manfredi, during the event “Utilities and Investments: a development model for the territories”, organized in Naples by Utilitalia, the federation that brings together the special companies operating in the public services of water, the environment, electricity and gas.
“Today,” he stressed, “public services cost a lot, the rates are demanding and impact on family budgets.
If we are able to demonstrate that improving the organization, having more modern facilities and managing resources better coincides with an improvement in service and a reduction in tariffs, people will be convinced of the usefulness of these investments for their future, but also for their present”.
Manfredi explained that “to have an efficient service, we need to have cutting-edge systems, both in terms of waste, both for the integrated water cycle and the management and production of energy”.
He highlighted how it is necessary to "make citizens understand that having modern systems, adequate to the needs of the various catchment areas, represents an opportunity and not a problem. It is essential to overcome the fear of systems, a widespread fear because people prefer to have the news far from their home.
However, if we understand that the plant is an opportunity for the community and a way to improve the quality of life, we can go down this path successfully.”
“One of the first acts I took as mayor was the approval of the first waste management system waste within the urban perimeter,” Manfredi recalled, adding:
“We have managed to convince people that building plants in cities too means guaranteeing the plant self-sufficiency that the Campania Region, as well as Naples and its metropolitan area, are equipping themselves with”.
