A large high pressure field extends between the Mediterranean and Eastern Europe, bringing mostly dry weather conditions and an intense heat wave. The influx of African air is making thermometers rise, with positive anomalies of 6-8 degrees especially in the Central-Southern regions.
But be careful over the weekend, when humid currents at high altitude will touch the northern regions, bringing an increase in instability. From Friday, scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected, not only on the Alps but also in the adjacent plains. The latest updates from the Center Weather Italian indicate a new push of the African anticyclone for next week, with a heat wave that will continue undisturbed in the Center-South and temperatures also rising in the North.
In the North, the day will start with stable weather and clear or partly cloudy skies, with isolated phenomena in the central-western Alps. In the afternoon, showers are expected along the Alpine arc and locally in the Apennines, while elsewhere the weather will remain dry with alternating clouds and clearings. The evening will see an improvement with large clearings, except for residual phenomena in the eastern Alps.
In the Center, the morning will be characterized by largely stable weather with a prevalence of clear skies. Even in the afternoon the skies will remain mostly sunny, with only harmless cloud formations on the Apennines. In the evening and during the night, dry weather conditions will be renewed with mainly clear skies and local low cloud formations on the Tyrrhenian coasts.
In the South and on the Islands, the morning will be stable with clear skies. In the afternoon, instability is expected in the Apennines with isolated showers, especially between Basilicata and Calabria, while elsewhere the weather will remain sunny. The evening and night will see dry weather conditions with clear skies everywhere and local low cloud formations on the Tyrrhenian coasts and the western coast of Sardinia. Minimum and maximum temperatures are generally rising throughout Italy.
In the North, the day will start with completely sunny skies. In the afternoon, instability will be confined to the Alpine areas, while elsewhere the sky will remain clear. In the evening, dry weather conditions will return with mostly clear or partly cloudy skies. In the Center, the skies will be completely sunny both in the morning and in the afternoon. The evening and night will not see significant changes.
In the South and on the Islands, the morning will be stable with clear skies. In the afternoon, localized instability is expected between Basilicata and Murgia. The evening will be renewed with dry weather conditions and a prevalent absence of cloudiness. Minimum and maximum temperatures will remain stationary or further increase from north to south.
