Operators of the 118 they find themselves having to pay fines for violations of the highway code dating back to 2021, a fact that arouses indignation since the fined vehicles were engaged in the secondary transport of patients undergoing dialysis during the emergency Covid.
According to the Highway Code, drivers of vehicles used for urgent services of the Institute should be exempt from restrictions, limitations and traffic bans. However, the sanctions remain valid as the administration of theASL Naples 2 North failed to file the necessary appeals, as reported in an official determination.
“This is a classic example of administrative sloppiness that demonstrates how public funds are being wasted while our health system is already in crisis,” commented Francesco Emilio Borrelli, deputy of the Green-Left alliance. “Money wasted on fines and collection agents that could and should have been avoided with a little more interest and attention. Unfortunately, superficiality and arrogance are the order of the day. If the managers responsible for these errors had to pay out of their own pockets, we are certain that episodes of this kind would not happen at all.”
