Naples. The Department of Social Sciences of the University of Naples Federico II and the Volunteer Service Center of the metropolitan city of Naples – CSV Napoli ETS have formalized a collaborative relationship with the signing of a memorandum of understanding.
Objective: to develop joint projects in the field of promotion, qualification and innovation of the world of volunteering in the metropolitan area of Naples.
The two organizations signed the agreement based on the shared recognition of the civil, social and economic value of the voluntary, convinced of the opportunity for a closer synergic collaboration between scientific research and training and service practices for the promotion and development of volunteering, the Third Sector and the social economy of the territory.
The Memorandum of Understanding will therefore be the framework within which to achieve a continuous exchange of knowledge and practices, based on the respective experiences in relation to volunteering.
The agreement provides, in fact, for the sharing of knowledge and skills based on the respective and specific activities in the academic field of training and research, on the one hand, and in the professional field of service and consultancy, on the other hand, developing a joint reflection on the theories, methods and tools useful for the conception and implementation of joint initiatives of planning, management, monitoring and evaluation for the benefit of communities, organizations and the territorial system of the Neapolitan civil and social economy.

With the memorandum of understanding, the two organizations commit to promote, develop and consolidate initiatives in various fields, which are mainly research-intervention, scientific dissemination, training and service for the promotion and innovation of volunteering, with reference to thematic areas sensitive to civil society and social entrepreneurship such as active citizenship, volunteering, social participation, inclusion and social cohesion, with particular attention to subjects at risk of exclusion and social discrimination.
"With this initiative we will involve and establish a stable relationship between the academic community, and in particular the student community, and the network of volunteer organizations operating in the area. The aim is also to encourage individual activation and participation, increase the social rooting of volunteer organizations and strengthen collaboration networks between institutions, third sector entities and other actors in the social economy", explains Professor Dora Gambardella, director of the Department of Social Sciences at the University of Naples Federico II:
"This new collaboration represents a further step towards building a more cohesive and inclusive local community of experts, promoting the sharing of knowledge and practices between academia and volunteering.
