Naples. The Carabinieri reviewed footage from numerous security cameras in the Via Monteoliveto area to shed light on the explosion in the middle of the night near the Pastrengo Barracks.
Then a fire spread, which was put out by the Fire Department. The news was spread by Pino De Stasio, councilor of Municipality II, who reported on social media what happened and, above all, what he saw and filmed with his smartphone.
“This night, it was around one o'clock, when I heard a huge explosion. When I looked out onto the balcony to see what had happened, I saw that the police and firefighters had arrived on the scene, intent on putting out the fire that had spread.
The explosion was really strong, it seemed to me like a firecracker, detonated right next to the Pastrengo Barracks, headquarters of the regional command of the Carabinieri. It is a disturbing fact that needs to be shed light on”.
The video was then filmed and commented on by the Green MP, Francesco Emilio Borrelli.
“What happened is alarming to say the least. An explosion in the center of the city, in the middle of the night on the perimeter wall of a Carabinieri barracks, from which a fire developed that could have had much more serious consequences.
I ask that a thorough investigation be carried out to trace the perpetrators of this reckless or criminal act. Let it be clarified whether it was a 'prank' by some petty criminal or whether it was a real criminal act.
In the last few days, several acts of intimidation have been reported between Naples and the province, with explosions of firecrackers, arson and damage. This very dangerous trend must be stopped”.
