An adult and a child in a canoe at the mercy of the waves and the wind: rescue in the province of Napoli.
During the weekend, following a request for assistance from a boater with a canoe in difficulty and adrift in the body of water in front of the "Lo Scoglio" bathing establishment in the municipality of Castellammare of Stabia, personnel from the Stabia Coast Guard patrol boats intervened by providing assistance to an adult and a child on board who were in good health, thus preventing the canoe, no longer controllable, from getting too close to the reef, also due to the weather conditions unfavorable weather and strong winds in the area.The rescue operation took place over the weekend, during which the Coast Guard of Castellammare di Stabia directed by Commander Andrea Pellegrino and coordinated by the Maritime Directorate of Naples, was busy monitoring - as part of Operation Safe Seas and Lakes 2024 - a maritime area that goes from the mouth of the Sarno river in the municipality of Torre Annunziata to the beach of Tordigliano - Chiosse in the municipality of Vico Equense (Gulf of Salerno side), to ensure the safe performance, at sea and on the beaches, of all professional and tourist activities. Over 100 checks were carried out by the military personnel of the Port Authority - Coast Guard both at sea (with approximately 196 miles traveled by the various naval vessels employed) and along the coasts of the maritime state property.
35 reports were issued, including 19 fines for illegal parking in the port area and 16 for navigation, parking or mooring near the coast, as well as for the absence of on-board documents. The total administrative fines issued during the various checks reached the figure of approximately 5 thousand euros.
