Naples. During a routine patrol, officers from the Poggioreale Police Station arrested two local men, a 35-year-old and a 26-year-old, for resisting a public official, assault, and illegal possession of a concealed firearm.
The events occurred yesterday evening, when a patrol from the Police Station ordered a car speeding along Via Repubbliche Marinare, in the Poggioreale area, to stop.
The two aboard the vehicle, instead of pulling over, suddenly accelerated, starting a chase through the streets of the neighborhood.
Chased along the streets of Poggioreale to Barra
The daring escape ended on Via Taverna Casa Vecchia, in the Barra neighborhood, when the fugitives' car rammed a police car.
During the course ofchase, the two suspects, in addition to having rammed the police car several times, threw a gun out of the window, a Smith & Wesson caliber .38 revolver, which was later recovered and seized by the officers.
The officers, who promptly intervened, arrested the two men who, not without difficulty, were stopped and taken to the police station.
During the arrest process, one officer suffered minor injuries that would take seven days to heal.
The two arrested men, already known to law enforcement for their criminal records, were taken into police custody and, by order of the Naples Public Prosecutor's Office, will be transferred to Poggioreale prison.
