A 23-year-old man has been arrested by the judicial police, accused of being the author of numerous robberies against motorists on the Naples ring road. The culminating episode occurred on Saturday evening, when a police officer from the Mobile Squad of the Naples Police Headquarters, off duty, spotted a group of people on two scooters intent on robbing motorists queuing at the toll booths on the Naples ring road. The officer, who promptly intervened, called for assistance from the Highway Police. During the intervention, a fight broke out with the passenger of one of the scooters, sparking a tense chase that lasted for some time, punctuated by gunfire.
Despite the intensity of the attack, the robbers managed to escape, disappearing without a trace. A few hours later, the 23-year-old suspect showed up at CTO Hospital with a gunshot wound to the shoulder. Authorities quickly identified the young man as one of the perpetrators of the robberies on the ring road.
