It took 25 years but finally the sentence of conviction of the two instigators of the murder of the innocent Giulio Giaccio, who was then dissolved in acid, has arrived,
The preliminary investigations judge of Naples sentenced Carlo Nappi and Salvatore Cammarota, top members of the Polverino clan of Marano, to 30 years in prison. Ten years in prison, instead, for the collaborator of justice Roberto Perrone.
The innocent worker Giulio Giaccio was killed and dissolved in acid in the Pianura countryside because he was mistaken for the boyfriend of the boss's sister.
Il young carpenter with no criminal record, he was killed on July 30, 2000 in the countryside between Pianura and Marano. He had no connection to organized crime and the perpetrators of the crime had mistakenly identified him as a young man who was having an affair with the sister of a boss who did not approve of him.
They kidnapped him, killed him with a gunshot to the head and then dissolved him in acid: a macabre ritual reserved for the cruelest enemies or those who have repented in organized crime.
The two, thanks to the statements of some repentants, were reached in prison by the precautionary order in December 2022. And now after 25 years, Giaccio's family has had justice.
