THEIrpinia is preparing to celebrate the richness of the dialect poetic tradition with the event “Per il Verso Giusto”, organized by Confimprenditori di Avellino. The event, which will be held on Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 July in Santo Stefano del Sole (AV), will see the participation of numerous dialect poets from different locations in Campania.
Two Days of Culture and Business
The event, organized in collaboration with the Municipality of Santo Stefano del Sole, the CEIC (Campanian Ethnographic Center), the Omast Eventi Association and other local entities, will be a two-day celebration dedicated to culture and local businesses. One of the main objectives is to enhance poetry in the Campania dialect and promote the territory. Participating poets will be able to express their creativity through verses, celebrating local culture, agri-food products and the beauty of the territory in an atmosphere designed to enhance the “slow life”.
First Day Program
The first day of the event, Saturday, July 27, will begin with the gathering of participants at 16:30 p.m., followed by greetings from local authorities, including Mayor Gerardo Santoli. The poetic incursions will begin shortly after, at 18:00 p.m., with the cultural meeting “Verses in popular tradition.” During the meeting, speeches on topics such as “Montemarano and the tarantella” and “Nusco and the scumparatora” will be presented, along with contributions from the association “La Rosamarina” and Prof. Ugo Vuoso. The evening will continue with a refreshment of typical products reserved for the participants in the competition and will culminate in the declamation of poems accompanied by the music of maestro Martino D'Amico.
Second Day of Celebrations
Sunday 28th July, the second day of the event, will start at 19pm with a concert by Enzo Gragnaniello. This will be followed by the awarding of the prize Confimprenditori and the “Penna d'Oro” and “Verso Giusto” awards, presented by Elvira Anzalone. It will be an evening dedicated to the recognition of poetic talent and the importance of dialect tradition.
Contest Regulations
1. **Participation:** It is open to all poets who compose and recite poems in the Campania dialect. Each participant will have a maximum of 5 minutes to recite their poem.
2. **Improvisation test:** Poets will have to present an improvised poem, composed during a guided tour through the streets of the Municipality. The poem must be between 4 and 16 lines long.
3. **Prizes:** Prizes will be awarded consisting of works of art made by local artisans, with no cash prizes.
4. **Jury:** The Scientific Committee, chaired by the Mayor and composed of representatives of the CEIC and the OMASTEVENTI Association, will evaluate the poems and award the prizes.
5. **Deadlines:** Entries must be completed by Wednesday, July 24th.
The “Per il Verso Giusto” event represents a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the local culture and appreciate the dialect poetry bell.
