It is a moment of reflection and uncertainty at Salernitana after Andrea Sottil decided not to begin his adventure on the bench of the granata. The news, which will be made official in the next few hours, marks an unexpected about-face by the Piedmontese coach, who had signed an agreement with the Campania club just eleven days ago.
The decision of Sottil to give up the role of coach of Salernitana was influenced by several factors, including the delays accumulated in the summer programming due to the complex corporate events that saw the negotiations for the sale of the club fall through. These unforeseen events contributed to a rethinking of the sports project and the resources available for the upcoming season.
Apparently, among the causes that led to the breakup there would also be disagreements regarding the composition of the technical staff. Sottil's requests regarding the costs associated with his team of collaborators were considered excessive by the Granata management, further complicating the situation.
With Sottil’s departure, sporting director Gianluca Petrachi is now working to find a replacement. There are several options on the table: among the main candidates are well-known names in Italian football such as Eugenio Corini, Cristiano Lucarelli and Fabio Caserta. However, the possibility of an outsider from Serie C who could emerge as an alternative solution cannot be ruled out.
