San Giorgio a Cremano. Every year, during the summer, through the Civil Protection group, Mayor Giorgio Zinno activates the light assistance service “You are not alone”, aimed mostly at over 65s, disabled people, people with heart problems, immunosuppressed people and lonely people.
The service mainly concerns the purchase and home delivery of food and basic necessities, prescription collection and medicine delivery, running various errands, information and useful advice on how to deal with the heat or how to access certain services and, if necessary, also listening to combat loneliness.
In addition, volunteers will patrol the area daily, by car or on foot, naturally wearing uniforms and carrying identification tags, ready to intervene by distributing bottles of water in case of need or if they notice an elderly person in difficulty.
In fact, thanks to the availability and humanity of the volunteers, it has never stopped and throughout the year those who have asked for help in carrying out daily activities have continued to have support from the volunteers.
However, in these months the requests increase and the project “You are not alone” comes to life and grows, also thanks to the civil service guys who have made themselves available even in the afternoon, in order to always have a sufficient number of volunteers to respond to the numerous requests.
The “YOU ARE NOT ALONE” service will be active every day of the week at the following times: Monday to Saturday, from 8.00:20.00 to 8.00:14.00, Sunday, from XNUMX:XNUMX to XNUMX:XNUMX. To request assistance from volunteers, simply call the following numbers of the Civil Protection Department: San Giorgio a Cremano: 081 5654735 and 081 5654742.
“Together with Director Raffaele Peluso and the manager Giorgia Rega, we continue to guarantee an assistance network that provides material and human support to many families and citizens in difficulty,” said the Mayor. “This is what we mean when we say that no one should be left alone. We are a supportive and inclusive community and on these principles, even with great effort, we deploy the necessary resources to offer support and give dignity to many people. Thanks to all the volunteers and the young people of the Civil Service for the time they dedicate to serving others and for their recognized humanity.”
