The Naples Digos has executed a precautionary order, issued by the GIP at the request of the Naples Prosecutor's Office, which has ordered the obligation to report to the judicial police for four people. These individuals are being investigated for resisting and injuring a public official in relation to the violent clashes that occurred last February 13 in front of the Rai headquarters in Naples.
The incident in question occurred during a demonstration organized by activists from social centers and far-left movements. The protest was directed against Rai's positions regarding the pro-Palestinian statements made by singer Ghali at the Sanremo Festival. The clashes left seven protesters injured, five law enforcement officers injured, and a photojournalist injured.
According to the reconstruction provided by the Naples Public Prosecutor's Office, reported in a press release signed by prosecutor Nicola Gratteri, the demonstration had been widely publicized on social media since the previous day. On the morning of February 13, around 9:XNUMX, the State Police were already positioned to guard the three entrances of Rai, supported by a video recording service set up by the Scientific Police to document the events.
Around 11:250 a.m., about 50 protesters arrived on the scene and a group of XNUMX people began to advance in a compact manner toward the entrance to Rai, occupying the roadway with the intent of gaining access to the facility. In response, the service manager ordered the sliding gate to be completely closed to prevent unauthorized access.
Despite the attempts of the Digos to dissuade the protesters, they continued to advance until they came into contact with the Mobile Unit deployed to protect the crossing. From the videos acquired, it can be seen that the protesters forcefully pressed the officers against the fence, using the “mass push,” and then began to kick and punch. With the arrival of additional Mobile Unit teams, the protesters' violence increased, culminating in the throwing of stones, cobblestones, and metal objects at the police.
The injuries sustained by the officers and the photojournalist, as well as the damage to the equipment, were significant. The suspects were identified thanks to the analysis of the footage taken by the Scientific Police, allowing the Naples Prosecutor's Office to proceed with precautionary measures.
