After Serie A, it's Serie B's turn. On Wednesday, July 10, in the picturesque setting of Piazza Europa in La Spezia, at 19:2024 p.m., Lega B President Mauro Balata will launch the compilation of the 2025/XNUMX Serie BKT matchday schedule. The event will be broadcast live on Lega B's social media channels, Facebook and YouTube.
This is the 93rd championship of Serie B, which began in the 1929/30 season, and promises to be full of important innovations. One of the main ones is the increase in the distribution of revenues to clubs that field Italian players under 21, that is, of the age to be called up for youth teams. Until last year, this distribution concerned the under 23s.
The new regulation, effective July 2022 but approved in the summer of 2024, aims to further enhance the development of young Italian talent. This issue has become particularly relevant following the elimination of the Italian national team from Euro XNUMX.
Lega B has expressed its intention to continue the tradition of Serie B serving as a launching pad for many young players called up to the Under-20 (11 players) and Under-21 (19 players) national teams. Many of these young players, after playing in Serie B, have progressed to Serie A and subsequently the national team, such as Nicolò Fagioli (formerly of Cremonese), Michael Folorunsho (formerly of Bari), Lorenzo Lucca (formerly of Pisa), and Federico Gatti (formerly of Frosinone). The Primavera teams of Serie B clubs also performed well in the 2023/24 season, with 90% of their squads featuring Italian players. Lega B thus confirms its role as a fundamental pillar for the development of Italian youth football.
