I workers of the Maddaloni headquarters of the Softlab, an IT company, held a sit-in at Napoli in front of the Campania Region.
Present were the trade unionists of the metalworkers' unions Fiom-Cgil, Fim-Cisl and Uilm. A delegation, composed of the Caserta secretaries of the unions and workers, was received by the councilor Marchiello.
During the meeting, the member of the regional council was urged to make a rapid commitment to promote an employment opportunity in the area, since the over 200 Caserta workers of Softlab They have been on redundancy almost continuously for a couple of years, practically since they were hired by the company.
Therefore, they are not engaged in any productive activity, and to this is added the anxiety about the expiry of the redundancy fund at the end of December; in addition, in recent months the employees have often had to endure delays in receiving salaries and redundancy fund.
The Softlab workers are all former employees of the multinational Jabil of Marcianise, who left the Jabil workforce at various times in recent years and were relocated to Softlab on the basis of production projects that never got off the ground.
“Councillor Marchiello – explains Fiom-Cgil secretary Francesco Percuoco – declared that he is already in contact with an important business reality to positively address the drama of the Softlab workers.
Since the Mayor of Maddaloni has reconfirmed his availability, after the holiday period, to start the control room with the involvement of the parliamentarians elected in the Caserta area and the Campania Region to discuss program agreements and promote the creation of employment opportunities, it would be useful and necessary for the institutions to talk to each other to give substance to the hypotheses put forward" concludes the trade unionist.
