Giuseppe Ditano, father of Clelia, the 25-year-old woman who died in Fasano after falling into an elevator shaft , gave a painful testimony to reporters.
“We tried to make his cell phone ring, we realized he was in the compartment and we raised the alarm,”
The Ditano Family Drama
The man spent hours of anguish in front of the building where he lives with his wife, watching the firefighters busy recovering his daughter's body. He then shared the details of that difficult day with reporters from *Quotidiano di Puglia*. "It had never happened before that the elevator stopped like that. This morning," Ditano explained, "seeing that he wasn't at home, we tried to make his cell phone ring and we realized that he was in the elevator shaft. I immediately understood that something had happened and we raised the alarm."
The Investigation of the Brindisi Prosecutor's Office
The Brindisi Public Prosecutor's Office has opened an investigation to clarify the dynamics of the accident and has ordered the seizure of the elevator to carry out all the necessary investigations. The body of the 25-year-old is now at the disposal of the judicial authorities, who in the next few hours could assign the task of performing the autopsy.
Clelia's Last Moments
According to her father, on the evening of the accident, shortly after midnight, Clelia went up to the fourth floor of the apartment where she lived, returning home to leave her bag and other personal effects. Shortly after, she decided to go down again to greet some friends or retrieve some forgotten objects. At that moment, she fell into the void because the elevator cabin would not go back up.
Recovery Operations and Investigations
The firefighters worked for over three hours to recover Clelia's body. In the meantime, outside the building, other families living in the building and several friends of the young woman gathered in a respectful silence, broken only by the tears of the parents. The Spesal staff was also present on site to acquire the first elements relating to the operation of the system: the technicians of the company responsible for the maintenance of the elevators had apparently already been heard.
The building where the accident occurred is owned by Arca (Regional Agency for Home and Living) Nord Salento. The entire community is now anxiously awaiting the results of the investigation, hoping to clarify the causes of such a tragic event.

What a terrible tragedy, I join in the pain of the Ditano family.
The pain of Clelia's parents must be immense, I am very sorry for them.
It is important to understand what went wrong to prevent similar tragedies from happening again.
We hope that the investigation will shed light on what happened and bring justice.
