The trophies of the historic sports club Juvecaserta, the first basketball team in Southern Italy to win a championship in 1991, are finally returning home. The club had ended up in bankruptcy that involved the companies of the Maggiò family, owners of the club. Now, thanks to the auction held on June 28, the bankruptcy trusteeship, led by Dr. Sergio Ferreri, has assigned the trophies to the Ornella Maggiò Club.
The recovered lot includes a collection of 174 cups, 29 plaques, 4 trophies, 3 plates, 21 pennants, 2 shirts and 2 team posters. This precious set of sporting memories is once again available to the city, fans and all those who have the team in their hearts. Juvecaserta.
The result has been awaited for two years and was possible thanks to the commitment of the president of the Ornella Maggiò Club, Ferdinando Sibillo, the vice president Emilio Tucci and the members of the board, supported by the members. In the coming days, the city of Caserta will organize events to celebrate the return of the trophies and remember the glorious times gone by.
However, this celebration will be missing a fundamental element: the Palamaggiò. The Palazzetto dello Sport, built by Giovanni Maggiò in just three months in 1984 and for years considered the temple of Caserta basketball, was sold at auction and purchased by the owner of the Neapolitan facility of Palapartenope.
