Dino Zoff, an icon of Italian football, revealed an interesting behind-the-scenes story of his career during an interview on Radio CRC in the programme 'In ritiro Con Te', hosted by Marco Giordano and Umberto Chiariello.
“In the move from Mantua to Naples, in reality, I should have landed at Milan. It was when I was a Napoli player that I won the European Championship with the national team.After 5 years in Naples, I left, but things in management began to change."
Zoff recalled the 1968 European Championship with emotion: “That European Championship there, in Naples, was incredible against Russia. 90.000 people supported us because Rivera was injured. The crowd, for a good 90 minutes, cheered for us and whistled at our opponents, an impressive thing.”
Riguardo all’attuale tecnico del Napoli, Antonio Conte, Zoff ha parole di grande stima: “I had Conte in the national team in 2000, a great midfielder and an extraordinary person.
I am very happy and I really hope he does good things. He deserves it and Napoli deserves it.
I will be a very close spectator."
Zoff did not fail to launch a dig on the subject of his transfer to Juventus: “I wanted to create a bit of controversy: a month ago, Ferlaino he said he sold me to Juventus because I wasn't happy at Napoli.
