In connection with the incident that occurred the other night in Piazza Mercato, Naples, where a young man was shot, the Prefect, Michele di Bari, immediately ordered the intensification of territorial control services.
Increased police presence in the square and surrounding areas, which are among the most closely monitored areas of the historic center and have recently been subjected to extraordinary security checks.
Specifically, the State Police checked, during the operations carried out in the area over the last three months, 331 people, including 140 with criminal records, and made one arrest.

129 vehicles were also checked, 12 of which were subjected to administrative seizure and 38 fines were issued for violations of the Highway Code as well as a driving licence suspension.
