The new zero-emission vehicle purchased from the in-house company «Sistema Amalfi» will guarantee internal mobility by connecting the external area with the historic center and the Valle dei Mulini
A modern zero-emission minibus for internal public transport in Amalfi: it was inaugurated this morning by the Municipal Administration of Amalfi led by Mayor Daniele Milano, and by the president of “Sistema Amalfi”, Antonio Vuolo, an in-house company that manages the internal mobility service. The blessing ceremony was officiated by Don Andrea Alfieri.
The new fully electric minibus will enter into service in the next few days and has a capacity of 18 seats, 8 of which are seated in addition to the driver and 9 standing. The vehicle is approved for the transport of disabled people, being equipped with a wheelchair platform.
"Our Administration continues to grow services for citizens. - says Mayor Daniele Milano - When we took office, internal transportation was guaranteed only in the morning hours and only in the historic center.
We have also extended the runs to the afternoon for the connections between Valle dei Mulini and the Lungomare and then activated the night runs for all the hamlets of Amalfi, now guaranteed all year round. With the expansion of the fleet now in use by “Sistema Amalfi”, we will be able to extend the service to the hamlets also during the day».
The new vehicle also catches the eye for its graphics: on the sides two beautiful panoramic photos taken from the Belvedere di San Lorenzo and the piazzetta di Lone. On the roof, a tribute to the champions of the Amalfi galleon engaged in the Regatta of the Ancient Maritime Republics.
"The desire to expand services forced us, in 2016, to prefer a vehicle with a conventional engine, the only one capable of operating throughout the day. - explains the administrator of Sistema Amalfi, Antonio Vuolo - Today, thanks to the evolution of the models and also to the containment of the related costs, we have found a latest-generation vehicle on the market. I would like to dedicate a thought to the late Cav. Gerardo Stanzione who had the intuition to imagine the conversion to electric for the vehicle in question".
Also equipped with a braking charging function, the new minibus will be used for internal transport service connecting the external area (port area and Piazza Flavio Gioia) with the historic center and the Valle dei Mulini.
