All is ready at the Beach Club Le Ondine – Ristorante da Gemma for the eagerly awaited 59th edition of the historic Capri-Naples Marathon, the Farmacosmo Trophy. On September 7th, the international open-water swimming competition will kick off from Marina Grande, under the aegis of a special guest: Amaurys Pérez. The water polo champion, also known for his television appearances, will have the honor of starting one of the toughest and most fascinating races in the world, which will see swimmers tackle a 36-kilometer course to the Naples seafront.
The Capri-Naples race has been a tradition that has been running almost continuously since 1949, making the Beach Club Le Ondine the undisputed reference point for this epic challenge, part of the UltraMarathon Swim Series global circuit . This year, Amaurys Pérez succeeds Massimiliano Rosolino, the patron of the previous edition, and with his enthusiasm he will spur participants on in a race that also celebrates the memory of the event's founders, Ido Fioravanti and Cesare Altieri.
"It's a great thrill for us to once again host the start of the Capri-Napoli," said Gemma Rocchi, owner of Le Ondine. "This year, in addition to the presence of the great Amaurys Pérez, we expect an exciting race, with seven Italian swimmers vying for victory. The program includes a brunch at 9:30 at the Beach Club Le Ondine, before the official start of the marathon, scheduled for 10:00. This moment of conviviality will offer guests the opportunity to enjoy the splendid scenery of Marina Grande before watching the start of the challenge. The event, which attracts expert swimmers and enthusiasts from all over the world every year, confirms itself as one of the most important for the Italian Long Distance Swimming Federation.
In addition to Amaurys Pérez, local authorities will also be present to kick off the race, which will conclude in the waters of the Gulf of Naples after a course of approximately 7-8 hours, testing the athletes' endurance and willpower.
