Six people arrested, the parish priest of Afragola accused of a robbery to cover up sexual abuse perpetrated in his church: to call such a scenario unusual is to use a soft euphemism.

But the story discovered by the Carabinieri of the Afragola Station who this morning executed the six precautionary custody orders in prison, issued by the Court of Naples North at the request of the Public Prosecutor's Office is anything but soft. On the contrary. It leaves you speechless.

Also because the crimes committed by the priests are serious in addition to the sexual ones and now a strong and decisive position is expected from the leaders of the Neapolitan Church and from the Holy See itself.

The six suspects are in fact seriously suspected of aggravated robbery in competition and sexual violence.

The investigation, launched in April following a complaint from two men from Afragola, revealed a complex case. The victims said they had been robbed in their home by two masked and armed men, who after breaking down the door, stole a cell phone and attempted to take another.

Among the six arrested there are also two priests

Immediate investigations, with the help of wiretaps, led to the identification of the perpetrators of the robbery, the instigators and the motives for the crime. The victims linked the event to previous relationships with some friars and reported sexual abuse.

The investigations confirmed the victims' statements, revealing that the robbery was aimed at recovering cell phones containing compromising evidence for some friars. The wiretaps showed that the parish priest of Afragola had commissioned the crime to eliminate this evidence.

Additionally, a letter from the victims' lawyers to religious superiors revealed that the victims had been sexually abused in exchange for assistance and work in monasteries. The victims had performed unpaid labor and received sexual abuse.
