This afternoon, in Volturara Irpina, the Sava torrent overflowed due to bad weather, flooding via Lenze, via Largo Rosso and the surrounding countryside.
The Carabinieri of Volturara Irpina intervened on site and found that the roads were impassable. No damage to homes or injuries were reported.
Meanwhile, still in the province of Avellino , traffic on State Road 7 bis has been restored to alternating one-way traffic at kilometer marker 62, in the municipality of Mugnano del Cardinale. The closure of the road had been necessary in the past few hours to clear a stream that had overflowed the previous evening.
Following the inconvenience caused by bad weather in Irpinia, the Municipal Operations Centres were activated in the municipalities hit by heavy rains, such as Baiano, where the head of the Civil Protection of the Campania Region, Italo Giulivo, went, and Mugnano del Cardinale, where for several hours the municipal territory was invaded by rivers of mud and debris caused by the flooding of the Quadrelle torrent.
Flooding also occurred in Montella, still in the province of Avellino, following the overflowing of another stream. The Fire Department intervened in via Lenze to secure the area and reassure residents. Again, no damage was reported.
