Naples. Books, pens and notebooks are some of the many products that can be donated to young students aged 3 to 14 who live in socio-economically difficult contexts in the suburbs of major Italian cities.
On Friday 6, Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 September, Banco dei Desideri, the annual event promoted by Mission Bambini in collaboration with Librerie Feltrinelli, returns to 114 Feltrinelli bookstores in over 75 cities, including Naples.
By making purchases in one of the Feltrinelli bookshops, it will be possible to add stationery products such as notebooks, pens, colours and erasers; but also game books and story books, atlases and dictionaries; finally, a wide choice of educational and board games, puzzles, constructions and dolls and soft toys for the little ones, all carefully selected by the Feltrinelli booksellers.
Anyone who makes a donation to Banco dei Desideri will receive a free bookmark created and designed specifically by Susanna Morari where, via a QR Code, it will be possible to download a digital comic by the illustrator.
The products donated through the Banco dei Desideri will be collected and distributed by Mission Bambini to a selection of primary and secondary schools and childcare centers distributed throughout Italy that welcome the most vulnerable students. In the five previous editions, more than 50 thousand products were collected for a total value of over 205 thousand euros.
“September is the month of going back to school, an important and emotional moment that, unfortunately, not all girls and boys can experience with joy.
There are still too many students in socioeconomically vulnerable conditions: Mission Bambini confirms its commitment to ensuring they have the opportunity to go to school with everything they need to face the new school year with the same opportunities as their classmates,” says Goffredo Modena, President of Mission Bambini.
“The Wish Bank is back: in 114 Feltrinelli bookstores, volunteers and booksellers are available to give advice to those who want to donate a notebook, a book and, therefore, a smile to a young student in difficulty”.
In Naples it will be possible to make purchases and donations through the “Banco dei Desideri” in the following Feltrinelli bookstores: Via S. Tommaso D'Aquino 70, Via Cappella Vecchia 3, Piazza Garibaldi (Central Station) and at Naples Airport – Capodichino – Terminal 1 Viale Fulco Ruffo di Calabria.
