The investigations by the Carabinieri and the Guardia di Finanza into the mistreatment that four social health workers allegedly inflicted on some of the fifty elderly people hospitalised in a nursing home for non-self-sufficient people in Cerreto Sannita, in the province of Benevento.
The abuse reportedly occurred mostly at night, when the four did not want to be "disturbed" by calls for help. At least two incidents, according to reports, have been confirmed by investigators who gathered evidence through shadowing, wiretaps, hidden cameras in the building, and telephone tapping.
This led to the residence bans against the four operators, all residents of Sannio.
