Chaos due to fire on Rome-Naples high-speed line, delays and inconveniences

Afternoon of passion on the railway network between Rome and Napoli: A fire near the high-speed tracks between Salone and Anagni, on the border between the provinces of Rome and Frosinone, caused traffic to be diverted to the conventional line, with cancellations and delays which even reached three hours. In a cascade, after the interruption of the AV at Zagarolo, delays also accumulated for trains departing from Florence in the direction of Rome. Codacons spoke of "enormous inconvenience" for thousands of travellers and invited "Trenitalia and Italo to provide due assistance to travellers both in the stations and inside the trains, and to provide correct information about delays on the line, travel times and the possibility of reimbursement of unused tickets". In the province of Rome alone, due to the strong heat, there were over fifty interventions by the Fire Brigade for brush and vegetation fires.

In Rocca di Cave a large forest fire has reached the edge of the roads. On via Nettunense, near the Padiglione train stop, a brush fire broke out on the side of the road. In Sicily, the regional Civil Protection has issued an orange alert for tomorrow due to the risk of fires and heat waves. In Palermo, a maximum perceived temperature of 37 degrees is expected. In Sardinia, a large fire has broken out in the countryside between the hamlets of Carbonia di Nuraxi Figus and Cortoghiana, with smoke visible from kilometers away. Three helicopters intervened - including a SuperPuma - and a Canadair that took off from Olbia. In the Matese Regional Park, in the municipality of San Gregorio Matese, in the Caserta area, it took 32 launches from a regional fire-fighting helicopter to put out the blaze that affected a large area in the Tre Fontane-Lago Matese area on Wednesday. An area of ​​30 thousand square meters was exposed to flames, of which 20 thousand square meters were managed forest with tall beech trees and 10 thousand square meters of pasture land.
