Caserta 18-month-old baby dies in hospital: investigation opened

Santa Maria a Vico. An entire community is in shock over the tragic death of Sharon L., a baby girl of almost eighteen months, which occurred last Sunday at theHospital "Sant'Anna and San Sebastiano" of Caserta.

The little girl, hospitalized on Friday for ddehydration and vomiting, was struck down by sudden cardiac arrest, despite having never shown any previous health problems.

Arriving at the pediatric emergency room in critical condition, Sharon was subjected to intensive care and admitted to the ward Pediatrics. During the night between Saturday and Sunday his conditions seemed to stabilize, but the following morning they suddenly worsened.

Despite the timely intervention of medical personnel, with resuscitation maneuvers and an attempt to transfer her to a specialized hospital, the little girl's heart stopped beating.

Investigations are underway to clarify the causes of this sudden and unexpected death. Theautopsy, arranged by the health management, will provide fundamental elements to understand what caused the cardiac arrest.

In the meantime, Sharon's parents, shocked by the pain, have filed a complaint with the hospital police, asking that full light be shed on the affair.
