After the hard-fought 2-1 victory against Parma at the “Maradona” stadium, the captain of the Napoli, John By Lorenzo, shared his thoughts on the team's performance, highlighting the difficulties encountered and the importance of tactical adaptation during the match.
“Parma is a very annoying team, with characteristics that make it difficult for anyone. Their wingers are very fast and capable of doing damage, and they showed it in the first half”, Di Lorenzo declared to the microphones after the match. The defender explained that Napoli had problems maintaining compactness in the first 45 minutes, resulting vulnerable to the Emilians' counterattacks: “We made a mistake in pressing and were surprised. We were too divided into two blocks, not very compact, and this penalised us in their quick transitions”.
However, during the interval, Antonio's intervention Tale made the difference. “In the second half we sorted out some things together with the coach and we managed to recover the match.
It's always difficult to play against teams like Parma. They know how to exploit every little uncertainty, but we were good at reorganising ourselves and getting the three points."
Di Lorenzo did not fail to underline the impact of Romelu Lukaku's debut, who scored the equaliser: “Romelu is a great guy, he immediately fit into the group and gave us something different in attack.
His presence allowed us to raise the center of gravity and create more opportunities. He scored an important goal and gave us confidence."
Finally, the Napoli captain expressed his confidence in the path that the team is taking under the guidance of Antonio Conte: “Has everything changed with Conte?
I've said it before: we've grown a lot with him, but we're only at the beginning of a journey. We have big goals, we'll continue to grow mentally and physically.
The road is long, but we are determined to reach important goals."
