Le girls 7 and 4 year olds involved in the collapse at the Vela Celeste in Scampia, Napoli, are no longer in danger of life. This was communicated by the Santobono Pausilipon pediatric hospital, providing an update on the conditions of the seven little patients, aged between two and ten years old, hospitalized following the accident.
PA, the 7-year-old girl, has been hospitalized since August 1st in the Functional Neurosurgery department. Doctors report “improvements in the state of consciousness”. The little girl responds to verbal commands, although sometimes incoherently. She began physiotherapy on the first day of hospitalization and is being followed by a team of psychologists. She continues to undergo surgical and instrumental checks to monitor the evolution of the internal contusions suffered during the collapse.
MB, the 4-year-old girl, was transferred yesterday from the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit to the Functional Neurosurgery department. The hospital reported that the little girl is awake and has no focal motor deficits. She is being followed by physiotherapists for rehabilitation and child neuropsychiatrists for psychological support and management of the state of psychomotor agitation.
BM, aged 10, is hospitalised in Orthopaedics after undergoing surgery for a multi-fragmentary fracture of the femur. Her post-operative course continues with clinical monitoring and medical therapy. She is awaiting maxillofacial surgery for a fracture of the mandible. The other four girls, two aged 2, one aged 4 and one aged 9, were discharged from the hospital.
