Gerardo Iacovazzo, the 49-year-old from Vallo della Lucania, was driving drunk in the Fiat Punto involved in the accident on State Road 18 in Cpaccio that killed a married couple from the province of Avellino. He died in hospital the following day.
The man, rescued in very serious conditions and transported by helicopter to the Ruggi hospital in Salerno, died despite the doctors' desperate attempts to save him.

The motorcycle was also carrying Cosimo Spagnuolo and Rossana Arena, a couple who died instantly.
Investigations revealed that Iacovazzo was driving under the influence of alcohol. Eyewitnesses described dangerous and erratic driving shortly before the crash, confirming suspicions about his condition.
The man, already known to the police for previous drug-related offences, was going through a difficult period, marked by economic and personal problems.
He had lost his job, his home, and recently his driver's license. Despite the efforts of those who loved him, he had sunk into a deep abyss, ending up dragging two other innocent people down with him.
