The Public Prosecutor's Office of Santa Maria Capua Vetere has launched an investigation into the mudslide that hit San Felice a Cancello, causing serious damage and the disappearance of two people.
Investigators are aiming to shed light on the incident, examining the facts and determining any liability. The alleged crime is negligent disaster.
Meanwhile, for the fourth consecutive day, the search continues for Agnese and Giuseppe, a mother and son missing since Tuesday, when the flood surprised them while they were returning home on board their Ape car.
There are 59 firefighters involved in the research, including operational personnel, officials and specialized units such as the SAPR (Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems), the GOS (Special Operations Groups with earth-moving vehicles), also from the Rome Command, and the SAF (Speleo Alpino Fluviale) and Fluvial units. Teams from the Salerno and Florence Commands also arrived on site. The searches are concentrated in the areas of the water accumulation tanks, now filled with mud.
Operations continued into the evening. "We continue to remove the mud, with great sadness but with courage and focus. Gratitude and recognition go to all public forces, the Civil Protection, the firefighters, the Carabinieri, the Guardia di Finanza, the State Police, and all those who are carrying out this operation with constant dedication.", wrote Mayor Emilio Nuzzo on social media.
