This was stated by Don Francesco Martino , parish priest of the church of the Santissima Immacolta in Qualiano, where the funeral of little Michelle Volpe took place , the 8-year-old girl who died on Sunday morning in a road accident while she was in the car with her mother, sister and her mother's partner.
The parish priest then continued: “In our lives we have learned many words like those Michelle learned at school with her teachers. We have a word for every situation.
When one of our parents dies we become orphans, when one of our partners dies we become widowers, but when a child dies there is no word to indicate it, because it is something that cannot even be said”.
And finally, referring to the tragedy: “No one leaves home saying 'I want to have an accident,' unfortunately these things can happen.”
Also present at the ceremony were Anna Boscaglia, 37, a mother under investigation for vehicular homicide, and her 16-year-old sister, who bore the marks of the accident with plasters on her face.
As the coffin left the church, white balloons accompanied it, and the procession made its way to the little girl's school, with many children and adults wearing t-shirts that read "now you will be our angel." Meanwhile, Mayor Raffaele De Leonardis expressed his condolences to the family on social media: "My thoughts are filled with deep sorrow and dismay for the tragic loss of little Michelle.

Such a dramatic event leaves one speechless and is difficult to accept. The circumstances in which this tragedy occurred make it even more heartbreaking to say goodbye to this young life cut short.”
While investigations are still ongoing to determine what caused the fatal accident involving the overturning of the Smart car carrying four people, Francesco D'Alterio , 47, the partner of Michelle's mother, remains in prison for road homicide. He was driving without a license or insurance.
