Giugliano. An argument over simple flowerpots turned into a family drama with tragic consequences.
Article Key Points
Yesterday evening, a 45-year-old man, identified as Salvatore Migliaccio, was arrested by the Carabinieri on charges of attempted murder. The victim is his 62-year-old uncle, with whom he shared a terraced house in the quiet town of Varcaturo.
According to an initial reconstruction of the facts, the argument between uncle and nephew degenerated following intentional damage to the entrance gate of the property.
Migliaccio, driving his car, allegedly broke through the gate, also destroying some cement flowerpots that decorated the entrance. An act that would have triggered the fury of his uncle, who would have accused his nephew of wanting to harm him on purpose.
At that point, things would escalate. Tensions would rise, old grudges would surface, and the argument would escalate into a violent assault.
Salvatore Migliaccio hit his uncle with a wooden pole
Grabbing a stick of wood over two meters long, Migliaccio allegedly repeatedly hit his uncle, inflicting very serious wounds to his head and body.
Alarmed by the screams, the family of the victim immediately requested the intervention of 118 and the Carabinieri.
When the soldiers arrived on the scene, they found the uncle lying on the ground in a pool of blood, while Migliaccio, still in possession of the bloody pole, was immobilized.
65-year-old uncle hospitalized with reserved prognosis
The victim was rushed to the hospital in Giugliano, where she was admitted with a reserved prognosis. Her conditions immediately appeared critical, but thanks to the timely intervention of the medical staff, the danger to her life seems to have been averted for the moment.
The Carabinieri of the Varcaturo station, coordinated by the Public Prosecutor's Office of Naples North, have started investigations to reconstruct the exact dynamics of the incident. Interrogations and the acquisition of testimonies are underway, while the wooden pole used as the murder weapon has been seized and subjected to technical tests.
