Strengthening monitoring and protection activities in the protected areas of the Vesuvius National Park was the central theme of yesterday's meeting at the Prefecture, convened by Prefect Michele di Bari. The meeting follows the letter sent on August 23 by the park authority's president, Raffaele De Luca, who emphasized the urgent need for a coordinated response to the recent fires that have devastated the area.

As announced by the Prefecture in an official statement, the meeting was attended by the mayors of the park's communities, along with representatives of law enforcement agencies, including police stations and Carabinieri. "The prefect opened the proceedings by recalling the importance of the security coordination table, which has been active since July," it is read in the note, "a necessary initiative to address the fires that have unevenly affected the park's territory."

Thanks to close collaboration between law enforcement, local authorities, and the Prefecture, it was possible to limit the damage caused by the fires, which are extraordinary and difficult to manage. Michele of Bari He expressed his gratitude to all involved, emphasizing the effectiveness of the operations carried out and the results achieved. He then reiterated the importance of intensifying cooperation between the parties, with the aim of further strengthening the protective measures already adopted.

Particular attention has been paid to the need for more rigorous monitoring of events involving the use of fireworks, considered among the main causes of fires in the park. Violations of protection regulations pose a threat to the entire ecosystem of the protected area, causing irreparable damage to fauna, flora, and the landscape.

The president of the park authority, Raffaele De Luca, thanked the prefect for his continued support, highlighting the important work done by the coordination committee to address the fire emergency. He also extended heartfelt thanks to the mayors and law enforcement officers present for their commitment thus far and for their future collaboration in protecting the Vesuvius National Park.
