The results of the second monitoring cycle of dioxins and furans dispersed in the atmosphere carried out are now available from Arpac near the place of thefire broke out last August 9th in the industrial area of pastorano inside a warehouse of a company that sells detergents and household items.
The second sampling cycle highlights concentrations (equal to 0,88 pg/Nm3 I-TEQ) higher than the reference values currently used by the scientific community, in particular the concentrations of equivalent toxicity indicated by the Lai, the technical body of the Federal Republic of Germany, of the order of 0,15 pg/Nm3 I-TEQ (picograms per normal cubic metre in terms of total equivalent toxicity).
A second sampler has been active since August 10 in the city center of Pastorano. Here, following the first monitoring cycle (August 10-11), concentrations of dioxins and furans dispersed in the atmosphere are lower than the quantification limit of the method used.
Monitoring is still ongoing: further results, theArpac, will be released as soon as they are available.
