The Campania Region Civil Protection has issued a new weather alert for sudden thunderstorms that will be in effect from 14:29 p.m. until midnight today, Thursday, August XNUMX. The warning signals a yellow-level hydrogeological criticality throughout the region, due to thunderstorms that, according to forecasts, could evolve rapidly and unpredictably.
Weather events expected include strong wind gusts, lightning, hailstorms, and the possible fall of branches or trees, resulting in damage to roofs and temporary structures. Civil Protection also warns of the risk of flooding in low-lying or underground areas, rising water levels in smaller streams, and the transport of debris along roads due to surface runoff. Low-lying urban areas could be subject to backflow of sewer systems, resulting in local overflows.
Furthermore, the instability of the terrain, already compromised by forest fires and fragile hydrogeological conditions, could cause rockfalls and occasional landslides, especially in areas hit by previous weather events. In Naples, as a precautionary measure, the Municipality has ordered the closure of public beaches and city parks for the duration of the weather alert. The northern pier of Bagnoli will remain closed to the public. The order will be in effect from 14:23 PM until 59:XNUMX PM today, with the aim of protecting the safety of citizens.
