Great joy for the family of Michela Parisi, 45 years old, a housewife, and Vincenzo Giunto, 49 years old, a worker living in Salerno, for the birth of little Ferdinando.
They had been desperately trying to have a child for over 14 years, consulting various sterility centers and having attempted 8 assisted fertilization attempts, all of which had failed.
Michela had undergone laparoscopic fibroid removal surgery and hysteroscopic enlargement metroplasty.
Eventually the patient turned to Dr. Raffaele Petta who subjected her to a new assisted fertilization process and, to her utmost disbelief, at the end of the treatment she learned that she was pregnant.
The pregnancy was high risk, due to the patient's age, previous operations on the uterus and a sudden dilation and shortening of the cervix with risk of rupture of the membranes and abortion.
In the 13th week it was decided to subject Michela to cervical cerclage surgery using the Shirodkar technique.
Since it was a high-risk pregnancy, the pregnant woman was subjected by Dr. Raffaele Petta to close clinical checks with serial ultrasound scans, echoflowmetry and intensive monitoring of fetal well-being.
The patient was admitted at 37 weeks of pregnancy due to premature rupture of membranes at the Obstetrics Department of the Malzoni Clinic in Avellino, directed by Dr. Annamaria Malzoni.
After careful monitoring of fetal well-being, on August 2nd it was decided to deliver Michela.
The birth was performed by Dr. Annamaria Malzoni with Dr. Gianmarco Miele and the midwife Anna Pepe with the nurse Marina Loria.
The anesthesia was administered by Dr. Ida Oppido. At 9,50:3,320 am little Ferdinando was born weighing XNUMX kg and was entrusted to the care of Dr. Angelo Izzo, Head of the Malzoni Nursery, assisted by the childcare worker Vittoria Elia.
