Yesterday afternoon, the beating heart of Naples was shaken by an episode of violence involving a 31-year-old of Moroccan origin.
The man, with a criminal record, tried to get away with a lightning robbery in a clothing store located in Corso Umberto I
Taking advantage of the hustle and bustle of the historic center, the robber grabbed ten T-shirts from the shelves and, to ensure an easy escape, attacked the owner of the shop, violently pushing him.
The man's desperate screams, however, attracted the attention of the Flying Squad Hawks, who were patrolling the area.
Thus began a high-voltage chase through the alleys of the historic center, with the robber trying in every way to lose the police.
After a brief but tense struggle, officers managed to subdue the man, finding him in possession of the stolen goods. Despite his resistance, the 31-year-old was arrested and taken to prison.
The incident deeply shocked the local community, already reeling from numerous incidents of crime. The shop owner, still reeling from the incident, told reporters he experienced moments of terror. "I wasn't expecting something like this," he said. "I thought I was safe in my shop."
Investigations are still ongoing to reconstruct the details of the incident and determine whether the robber acted alone or in concert with others. Meanwhile, the news has spread throughout the city, fueling debate about security and the effectiveness of measures adopted to combat crime.
