Yesterday morning, officers from the Naples Mobile Squad, during a patrol in Via Duomo, were approached by a passerby who reported a theft that had occurred a few moments earlier.
Two men on a scooter had snatched gold necklaces from a tourist on Via De Blasiis, then fled in the direction of Via Foria.
Thanks to the images from the video surveillance cameras and the descriptions provided, the police were able to track down the two muggers, identified shortly after in via San Vincenzo, in the Sanità district.
Here, inside a garage, the two were removing a license plate that they had used to cover the original one of the scooter.
The two men, a 36-year-old and a 33-year-old from Naples, both with criminal records, were stopped and found in possession of the gold necklaces stolen shortly before.
Checks revealed that the fake license plate was associated with another vehicle. They were arrested on charges of snatching and receiving stolen goods.
